Would you like to play a leading role in shaping the water industry for the benefit of consumers?
CCW is recruiting eight Consumer Advocates across England and Wales to help us champion the interests of consumers and influence water companies, governments and regulators.
As the independent voice for water consumers in England and Wales since 2005, we have helped thousands of consumers resolve complaints against their water company, while providing free advice and support.
We are currently recruiting four new Consumer Advocates for London & South East, one for North Wales (preferably Wrexham County or North Powys areas), one for Central & Eastern, one in our Northern region and one non-specific location relating to the retail market. Consumer Advocates help to ensure that all local water and sewerage customers receive a good quality and efficient service at a fair price, now and in the future.
Ideally, (with the exception of the retail market vacancy) you should receive water services from a company within the area we are recruiting to. A map and list of companies in each region is contained within the information pack. In Wales we are keen to encourage applicants receiving services from Hafren Dyfrdwy. We encourage all applicants, but particularly welcome applications from individuals with commercial and business experience, research or communications backgrounds, and knowledge of the needs of both household and business customers. In Wales we also encourage applications with a finance, regulation, research and public relation background as well as entrepreneurs who have commercial and business experience. We welcome applications from all communities and underrepresented groups.
You should have experience of representing communities, customers and contributing to a wider strategy. You will have excellent communications skills, an enquiring mind, sound judgement and the ability to extract salient points from complex data, all the time appreciating issues from the consumer’s point of view. Knowledge of the water industry is desirable but is not essential, along with an understanding of how a regulated business should engage with stakeholders and customers.
You must be able to devote time equivalent to at least four days a month to Consumer Advocate duties and will receive a fee of £4,510 per annum. Travel and certain other expenses will be reimbursed.
