An action plan to help business customers across England become water efficient has been published with the support of the Consumer Council for Water (CCW).

The plan has been prepared by the Retailer Wholesaler Group (RWG) and sets out a series of steps that will need to be taken in collaboration with government, regulators, business customers and other partners including CCW.

The RWG – which enables greater partnership working between water retailers and wholesalers – was asked to draw up the plan by Ofwat and the Environment Agency to help deliver greater water efficiency in the business sector.

CCW is a member of the RWG and supported its efforts in creating the plan which includes providing greater clarity on the expectations and ambition for business water efficiency; improving understanding of how businesses use water and greater collaboration in water resource planning.

The RWG will be responsible for leading the delivery of the action plan with progress reported to Ofwat and the EA as well as a newly-created Senior Water Demand Steering Group (SWDSG).
