Water companies’ efforts to reduce customer complaints will come under scrutiny at the Consumer Council for Water’s (CCWater) meeting in Bradford on Thursday (September 29).
The independent consumer watchdog will be challenging water suppliers from across the north of England on their complaint-handling performance at the meeting in Kala Sangam Arts Centre. The meeting starts at 1.30pm and will be open to the public.
It’s being held just a week after CCWater published its annual Water Industry Complaints Report which revealed all of the region’s water companies saw a rise in written complaints from customers in 2015/16.
Robert Light, Chair of CCWater’s Northern Committee, said: “We’ll be asking water companies about the causes of this increase and what they’re doing to improve the situation.”
“Consumers will also have the opportunity to put their questions or concerns directly to us or company representatives.”
Carl Pegg, CCWater’s Head of Consumer Relations, will present the headline findings of last week’s complaints report. Representatives from Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Northumbrian Water and Hartlepool Water will all be in attendance.
