United Utilities completes lifting of boil water notice

The Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) is pleased that United Utilities has completed the lifting of a boil water notice which had affected more than 300,000 customers in Lancashire.

United Utilities confirmed on Sunday (September 6) evening that it had lifted the notice in the last area to still be at risk of  contamination from cryptosporidium.

It is now considered safe for all customers to drink tap water without having to boil the water first.

United Utilities has already started to send out compensation cheques to customers have been affected by the disruption.
