THE Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) has praised Severn Trent Water for sharing the benefits of its financial success with customers.

Severn Trent Water has shown it has listened to customers and the water watchdog by today (Thursday) reaffirming its pledge to invest an additional £150million in its water and sewerage networks.

The extra investment – which was originally revealed last year – is spread over three years and will be spent on reducing leakage and supply interruptions, improving sewers and upgrading treatment works.

Bernard Crump, Central and Eastern chair for the Consumer Council for Water, said: “By sharing the benefits of its improved financial performance, Severn Trent has shown it is listening to its customers as well as shareholders. This additional investment should help make a real difference to the services delivered to customers.”
