Siân Phipps

Appointment from July 2016.

Siân was, until July 2016, Clerk of Committee Transition to the Fifth Assembly in the National Assembly for Wales. She worked for several scrutiny committees in the third and fourth Assemblies, including the Committee for Scrutiny of the First Minister, Petitions Committee, Enterprise and Business Committee and the Chairs’ forum.

Born and raised in Cardiff, Siân read Geography at the University of Leeds, where she gained a PhD in Environmental Risk Perception. She worked in West Yorkshire and London before returning to Cardiff in 1998 where she lives with her husband.

Siân has worked for a range of organisations, including the House of Commons, Environment Agency, BBC Wales, and was Head of Communications and Public Affairs at the Arts Council of Wales. Sian was one of the first mentors in the Presiding Officer’s Women in Public life scheme.

Angela Davies-Jones

Appointment from April 2015.

Solicitor and Mediator; Angela was a former Director and Compliance officer for legal Practice and is now a consultant for Milwyn Jenkins and Jenkins. She has a LLB (Hons) and LLM in Environmental Law and Management (Aberystwyth University);  Angela is a former President of the Mid Wales Law Society; member of the External Advisory Board of the Centre for Welsh Legal Affairs Aberystwyth University and a former member of the Mid and West Wales Courts Board. She is a member of UK Environmental Law Association, Agricultural Law Association and Resolution  and  is a group Observer for Mid Wales Advanced Motorists.

Bob Gilchrist

Appointment from April 2015.

Chartered Civil Engineer; Chartered Environmentalist with a particular interest in sustainable development; Fellow of Institution of Civil Engineers; Bob has extensive Design and Project Management experience in Water and Public health Engineering in the UK and overseas; examiner with the Institution of Civil Engineers; previous Director of Environmental Campaigns Ltd – a charity working with the community to improve local environments; Treasurer of local Rugby Club; Member of a large Welsh choir; moving towards fluency in Welsh language.

Dr. Lee Gonzales

Appointment from April 2015.

Associate lecturer (Charles Sturt University), former Research Fellow at Cardiff University and The National Archives; PhD Structural Biophysics (Cardiff University); former committee member for the Welsh Assembly cross-party group for Science and Technology, current committee member for the Royal Society of Chemistry analytical methods sub-groups for statistics and heritage science. Presently trustee for the Vale for Africa, and previous committee member for the Cardiff branch of the Jubilee Sailing trust.

Ronnie Alexander

Appointment from March 2013, reappointed April 2015.

Environmental/public health expert within local and central government, including more than 20 years as Chief Environmental Health Officer for the Welsh Government. Prior to the civil service, Ronnie worked for local authorities including Belfast and Poole in such areas as environmental health enforcement and management. His last local government post was as Assistant Chief Environmental Health Officer (Strategic Support Services) with the London Borough of Harrow.  Considerable track record of engaging with the public, professionals and politicians to influence policy at all levels on a wide range of issues including drinking water quality, Ronnie has particular interest in climate change and sustainability. Ronnie was also appointed to the Welsh Food Advisory Committee, a Ministerial appointment, from 1st July 2014.
